Sowing the Seeds of Love

Food poverty charity, Gratitude and Garden On A Roll are teaming up with faith communities and schools in a mass flower-planting project that will bring children, families and people of different backgrounds together to aid local biodiversity, improve the environment and counteract climate change.

In the days leading up to Mitzvah Day, across Hertsmere (Hertfordshire) volunteers will perform weeding and raking of open areas of land in strategic sites and then on the day itself, engage in mass planting of bulbs; daffodils, narcissus, crocuses and other seasonal flowers.

Local Christian, Hare Krishna, Muslim and Jewish communities are also taking part and their places of worship will either have planters delivered to them or will open up their garden/wooded areas to facilitate this initiative.

Recent local tree-planting at home initiatives have been fantastic, but Sowing the Seeds of Love has an additional ingredient of inclusivity that makes it possible for anyone to join.

We will run 11-2pm on Mitzvah Day (Sunday 20th November 2022) at several locations locally. If you would like to volunteer to join us, please contact Sheila Carlisle or Dan Ozarow at [email protected] for more information and for details of the nearest one to you.
