Help and Hope for Rough Sleepers

Help and hope distribute much more than just essential items – they help to spread hope by taking the time to get to know each of the street people. Understanding that many of the people they come across are lonely, they get to know their stories and find out about their lives, giving their time to those that need to be listened to. Most weeks they see between 30 to 40 rough sleepers with 60% of those being those they have had contact with on previous weeks. Whilst they are not a registered charity, Help and hope is set up as a Facebook page and run by Borehamwood residents Shoshana and Lloyd Gilmore who work tirelessly to personally distribute blankets, sleeping bags, clothes, underwear, hot drinks, and food and toiletries to rough sleepers. Since 2017, every Thursday evening has seen the couple pile up their car with donations and along with a small band of volunteers, make their way into central London. “We are a small organisation and we fund a lot of the social enterprise and the journey into London ourselves. We are extremely thankful for the support of many Charities including Goods4good and Wenzels which also support this venture.”Lloyd Gilmore They are always grateful for donations; everything they receive helps them to do more for people facing homelessness. They are always in need of Boxer Shorts, Socks Jogging Bottoms, Hoodies, T Shirts, Baby Wipes Shower Gel, Deodorant, Sleeping Bags and Blankets. To make clothing, personal items or sleeping bag donations please contact them via email. – [email protected] How can you help?? Are you free on a Thursday evening?
